Victoria Bachan Hosts the Ultimate Sweet Sixteen

After sixteen privileged years, Victoria Bachan decided for her sweet sixteen she should give back on such a momentous occassion. She says "receiving the diagnosis of breast cancer can be the worst day of someone's life. That is when I got the idea to have donations, instead of gifts, be given to the Lowcountry Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure."

Victoria was inspired by two breast cancer survivors, Anne Pender and Peggy Carr. She watched both women go through physical, emotional and financial challenges that they were unprepared for. She hopes that the money she contributed will help those who are in similar situations.

Vistoria's Sweet Sixteen was held at the Wickliffe House in downtown Charleston, SC. The night of the event she presented Komen Lowcountry with a check for $1615. This was a donation given in love by many local teenagers. She wants to encourage others to give back during their sweet sixteen as well. "I challenge teens to think beyond themselves and give back and make a difference" says Victoria.
